Use this guide to understand the main Patreon deductions before you price tiers: platform fees, processing, currency conversion, iOS purchases, creator fee taxes, and payout transaction costs.

Plan based
New creators who publish after August 4, 2025 are on the standard 10% plan. Legacy creators may still see Founders, Pro, Pro + Merch, Premium, or custom account rates, so the safest first step is checking the plan shown in Patreon settings.
Per member payment
Processing is applied to each member transaction, not just the monthly total. The rate changes by payout currency, payment method, member location, and for eligible legacy plans, whether the tier is at or below the local micropayment threshold.
Mixed currency
Patreon lists a 2.5% currency conversion fee when a fan pays in a currency different from the creator payout currency. The calculator estimates this on the entered tier price and does not model live exchange rates.
Timing dependent
Patreon says iOS in-app purchases use Apple processing, while Patreon platform fees still apply. Payout fees are charged when money leaves Patreon, so payout frequency can matter for small balances.
Fee guide
Start with gross monthly revenue: tier price multiplied by paying patrons. The calculator then subtracts the platform percentage for your plan, estimated per-patron processing, any mixed-currency conversion fee, selected iOS handling, tax on creator fees if you enter one, and the payout fee for your chosen method.
The two inputs that usually change the result fastest are tier price and patron count. Low-price tiers feel more fee-heavy because fixed processing amounts repeat on each payment. Mixed payment methods, non-US PayPal or Venmo, and non-payout-currency members can also widen the gap between gross revenue and net creator pay.
For iOS purchases, choose whether you absorb the App Store fee, raise iOS prices to offset the fee, or exclude iOS purchases from the estimate. This keeps the Patreon fee calculator useful for both current audiences and future pricing experiments.
