Patreon pricing for creators

Pressure-test low-ticket, mid-tier, and premium membership prices against Patreon fees before you publish tiers or change reward promises.

Watch the microtier math

Fixed processing costs can make very low tiers look worse than the headline platform rate. Confirm the net result before anchoring your lowest offer.

Tier scenarios

Compare net income before choosing price points

$3 with 150 patrons

Low-ticket tier

Gross
$450.00
Estimated net
$367.03
Effective fee rate
18.4%

Use this as a margin warning. Fixed processing charges repeat per patron, so a $3 tier needs a clear low-cost promise or an upsell path.

$8 with 120 patrons

Mid-tier membership

Gross
$960.00
Estimated net
$779.14
Effective fee rate
18.8%

A mid-tier price usually absorbs per-transaction costs better while still feeling accessible for a recurring support offer.

$25 with 40 patrons

Premium tier

Gross
$1,021.43
Estimated net
$856.10
Effective fee rate
16.2%

Premium tiers can keep fee drag lower as a share of revenue, but the offer has to justify fewer patrons carrying more of the monthly goal.

Pricing guidance

Set the lowest tier by net margin, not optimism

  • Do not judge a tier by gross revenue alone. Compare net monthly pay and effective fee rate before publishing.
  • Keep microtiers operationally light. A low price with bonus-heavy rewards can create the worst mix: lower margin and higher fulfillment work.
  • Use annual membership discounts only after the monthly price works. A discount can improve retention, but it also reduces the base that fees are calculated from.

Creator platform comparison

Compare pricing against owned-audience tools

Use Patreon net revenue as the baseline, then compare whether merch, email, or a direct checkout stack should sit beside the membership tier.
